A Message from Our Chair
It gives me great pleasure to not only be the Chair of this year’s Heart & Stroke Ball, but also through my organization, Dade Medical College, be the Heart Society Sponsors.
I often refer to myself as a man of little consequence – let me clarify exactly what that statement means to me. What I am humbly trying to say is that we are all women and men of little consequence no matter how great our individual achievements may be unless those achievements somehow manage to positively affect the lives of other folks less fortunate than ourselves.
Together, through the American Heart Association, we have the perfect vehicle, in my opinion, to all be women and men of great consequence by being able to positively impact as little as a single life or as many as generations to come by helping to fund scientific research and by promoting better health and living habits across our respective community and perhaps even one day across the world.
The possibilities are truly infinite. So in 2013, I challenge each and every one of us to be taller than we actually are, stronger than we have ever thought we could be and most importantly, more giving and charitable than most folks would think wise. Therefore, our goal for the 2013 Heart & Stroke Ball should be as big as the city in which it resides. I respectfully propose that we should try to reach a strategic goal of 1 million dollars for this year’s gala. Lofty, I know, but let this event show that Miami and its citizenry are all people of great consequence!
If you are considering becoming a part of this noble cause, commit to showing that as one, we may be of smaller consequence but together, we are steadfast.
My Sincerest Regards,
Ernesto Perez, Jr.
